Joy grew up on a beef cattle farm, enrolled in a city high school and moved states to study music at tertiary level. Then she discovered the harp. After playing in professional orchestras, at weddings and events in picturesque locations and in 5 star hotels, Joy also offers harp sessions for stress reduction and vibrational healing, focussing on youth. For over 35 years she has guided students of all ages on their musical journey with piano and harp. She has radio programming and presenting experience, and has given devoted administration support to both arts and educational organisations in Queensland.
Joy has 3 adult children and has a passion for travel, nutrition, poetry, permaculture and tiny house living.

“Tapestry of Yarns” is a mentoring program that will include training and production of podcast episodes, created by women from our region. Working with an all-female team of trainers, studio technicians and producers, the women will be supported through a process that will result in the women having the confidence, technical skills and storytelling structure, to share their stories and weave a tapestry of yarns that can be shared to the global digital world.
“Tapestry of Yarns” will provide a creative approach to sharing information to support people to find a pathway to achieve their goals. Tailored mentoring by a team of focused, supportive and experienced mentors. This program will pick up the threads of various women podcasters that have already delved into the arena and are ready to create content for a sustainable, economically viable, montorised podcast. In the regions there are fewer opportunities to explore creative businesses.
Podcasting is an ideal economic opportunity for those remote or home-bound. Podcasts are an essential component of sharing information, providing deeper conversations about current affairs and challenging topics that you won’t hear through traditional forms of media (ie. mainstream TV or Radio). It is also accessible and readily available to anyone, with any level of experience. Before broadcasting was exclusively available to fully qualified practitioners, with large teams and bigger budgets. Podcasting has opened opportunities for anyone to share their story.
