Explore where Arts, Health and Well-being intersect. Practitioners in any art-form or health practice are invited to join this open discussion. With guest speakers we will discuss how can arts and the health sectors can work together for better well-being outcomes for individuals and communities. We will look at what examples are there in the Tablelands and inspiring best practice models from across Australia.

ENJOY participating in some exercises where you will explore your own creativity and discuss the health benefits.

HOSTED by local Arts&Health practitioner, Owen Allen, from the rEvolve Dance program and Arts Nexus.

WHERE IT BEGAN ….

Following on from the Arts&Health stream of the 2017 National Rural Health Conference held in Cairns, the idea of a regional arts, health and well-being group was form as a way to raise the profile of the arts in the health sector as an allied practice to improve health outcomes.

On Saturday 13 June, 2017, Arts Nexus hosted a “Networking with Purpose” event together local arts and health practitioners in a focused conversation to see how the these two sectors are connected in working towards the well-being of society. Avril Duck (Tropical Arts), Velvet Eldred (then ARC Disability, now Red Cross), Gail Rogers and Katerini Manolatos (Vocal Boot Camp and Musical Odyssey) created a lively conversation, engaging the 12 practitioners who attended. The speakers were passionate and unanimously agreed they would like this group to meet to further the ideas so far expressed.
